The History of Accounting (RLE Accounting): An International Encylopedia (Routledge Library Editions: Accounting) Reviews
An unexpectedly interesting work even for a non-expert. It helps to have a rudimentary knowledge of accounting, but one doesn't have to be a professional accountant to enjoy the contributions in this admirably well-edited encyclopedia. For example, numerous articles helped me gain a better sense of the tremendous achievement of the Italian merchants of the Renaissance in creating the double-entry bookkeeping method.
