Red and Lulu Reviews
This is one of the most beautiful books, holiday or otherwise, I have ever read. The illustrations are absolutely stunning! This will quickly become a holiday classic, for young and old alike. I was blessed to receive an autographed copy from Matt Tavares, but have bought several copies to give as gifts and to add to my school libraries. I read it to 18 classes this week and reading number 18 was just as magical to me as reading number 1. Not that it matters, but I can see this gorgeous book receiving a shiny medal in February as well.
Beautiful story with even more beautiful illustrations. All three of my kids loved it -- ages 3, 5 and 7. My kids now call any cardinal we see Red and Lulu.
Having already purchased Matt Tavares' baseball biographies, I couldn't wait to purchase Red and Lulu to add to my Maine authors' collection. This charming tale tells the story of a "bright red cardinal" and a lady cardinal (as my three year old grandson refers to his favorite bird) who are separated when their home finds its way to Rockefeller Center for the holidays.. Happily, they are reunited, in the spirit of the holiday season! It's another home run from one of my favorite authors! Enjoy!
My three young children adored this book! I loved the illustrations and the story was truly heartwarming. I ended up buying extra copies to give as gifts. They are perfect for the holiday season!
Such a beautiful story with amazing pictures to go with it! Cardinals mate for life, so kids can know that when Lulu was missing, Red would have looked for her, a great moral but scientifically accurate as well. My daughter said, "I loved that story!" at the end.
SUCH a great story. Maybe not entirely realistic, but my 3 year old loved it. We live in NYC and he loved going to see the Rockefeller Center tree and "look for Red and Lulu" this year.
Red and Lulu were a pair of Cardinal birds. They lived in a huge evergreen tree in the front garden of a little house. The pair loved each other as well as their home. They enjoyed life and were very happy together.
A sweet story about the iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and its' inhabitants. The illustrations are true to form and the story very well told through the eyes of our feathered friends.
